This article is about the owner of the NBA Franchise, the Dallas Mavericks. The Securities and Exchange Commission has accused him of insider trading. Cuban had told his broker to sell his shares of Momma.com, after he hadreceived information from their CEO. The CEO told him about a stock offer that would dilute the value of their stocks. Cuban's had share of the company valuing over 750,000 dollars. He was able to sell his shares before the fall in their value, therefore he avoided almost a million dollar loss. Cuban who was heavily pursuing buying the Chicago Cubs, a Major League Baseball franchise, drastically hurt his chances of buying the team. Even if not convicted his accusations will taint his image. The SEC is not pursuing any jail-time for Cuban but they are pursuing large fines adding up to 3 million dollars.
